The Blog... Ted Kennedy... The First Day of School... And Putting it all Together

So I decided to start my new blog on the first day of the 05-06 school year. Brilliant isn’t it? A fresh start in the learning environment, as well as online!

Yeah, I'm full of bullshit. The fact is that I should have started this during summer because while in actuality I actually has less time on my hands, I would have had more interesting things to write about.

So, for all of you out there who know me and are reading this, you probably know how much of a blog-basher I am. Hypocritical, isn’t it? Well hey, what can I say, I had to hop on the bandwagon or would that be blogwagon… nevermind.

So, many of you non-political types (or even some of you politicos) are wondering why I decided to use a Ted Kennedy Quote to name my blog... well, to be blunt, I think that Teddy's totally awesome, and in 1980 he gave one of the most resounding speeches of his career, or any career. His work is something to be admired, and he is someone who has done more for america than most people will ever know, and in my opinion he should go down as one of the greatest Democrats of our times... but I digress, this should be a warm, getting to know you post...

Anyway, my summer was awesome. I had the incredible opportunity to work at the Attorney General’s office and begin my work as Chairman of an organization which I am sure will grow to be an incredible voice in Arizona Politics, the Young Democrats of Arizona High School Caucus.

So, now school’s in, and I just spent a buttload on new clothes and school supplies for the upcoming year… now comes the 9 month period of me trying to find that happy balance between work and school, and a little play thrown in here and there.

My teachers are cool. I have three band classes this year because I am that much of a dork, but thankfully they make up my first three periods, one of which actually starts at 6:30, an hour before school.

Band teacher is of course, Swearingen. What can I say… he’s nice… liberal Democrat... from Oregon… funny, but boring more often then not… he’s nice though.

My Chem teacher is Keller. He seems pretty awesome… a liberal most definitely… however his mannerisms are very creepily like Jeff Session’s though… so much as to make me cringe when he says a word like “bunson” or “burner.”

For AP American History I have Mrs. Wilkens… she said she wouldn’t tell me if she was a partisan or not, but she and all of her “Freedom isn’t free” and “How did government get so big” stickers pretty much paint a big “R” on her forehead.

For Pre-Calc I have Milburn… there’s only one way I can describe her… 1981. Her life was progressing nicely, but then in fall, 1981, she stumbled across a perm, leopard print jumpsuit, and some purple leg warmers and decided never to take them off. I haven’t talked politics with her yet, but I get a strong “R” vibe.

For AP English I’ve got Murphy-Tick, who is really cool… she’s letting me do Hunter S. Thompson as my American Author study, and Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail ’72 as my guy… and we had a nice conversation about William Jennings Bryan… but man, she really gives me the Repulican vibe… talk about cliché bumper stickers in her room… ick.

Man… what is it with me and my Republican teachers? Oh Well.

So my summer went awesome, as I said earlier, but most of it was because of the first two weeks of this month… firstly the YDA National Convention, YDA by the Bay, but that’s a whole other post.

Band camp was really awesome, but again another entry in and of itself.

I will also write another entry about when I went back to San Fran and saw Dave Matthews Band twice. It was awesome.

Just some teasers about what all is to come!

Anyway, I need to get up at 5:30, and I am still tired from all of the above… talk to you later… stay good.
